What to Pack for a Daymaniyat Islands Boat Trip (Checklist)

We provide the snorkelling gear, drinks and snacks. Here's the short list of what you should bring yourself.

Good news: you don't need much. We provide the snorkelling gear, safety equipment, drinks and snacks. Here's what to bring yourself, so you can enjoy the day without worrying about sunburn or a dead phone.

What we provide

On our snorkelling trips:

  • Snorkelling gear (mask, snorkel and fins)
  • Life jackets and safety equipment
  • Water, juice and soft drinks
  • Sandwiches, fruit and snacks
  • Kayak and paddle board (on selected trips)

Check your trip's page for exactly what's included — the camping trip also includes tents, meals and camping equipment.

Your checklist

Essentials

  • Photo ID for every guest (passport, Omani ID or residence card)
  • Your booking confirmation — on your phone is fine
  • Swimwear — wear it under your clothes to save time
  • Towel
  • A change of clothes for the ride home

Sun protection

The sun on the water is strong all year round, and reflects off the sea.

  • Reef-safe sunscreen — mineral (zinc or titanium) sunscreens are kinder to coral
  • Rash vest or light long-sleeved top — the best protection while snorkelling
  • Hat and sunglasses with a strap if you have one
  • Lip balm with SPF

Useful extras

  • Waterproof phone pouch or action camera
  • Dry bag for your valuables
  • Motion sickness tablets if you're prone to seasickness — take them before departure
  • Water shoes for rocky landings
  • Your own mask if you have one you like, or prescription goggles
  • A light jacket for the boat ride in the cooler months

What to leave at home

  • Glass bottles — they break easily on a moving boat
  • Hard suitcases — soft bags are easier to handle on a boat
  • Expensive jewellery — easy to lose in the water
  • Aerosol sunscreen — it drifts onto the deck and other guests

Before you leave the house

  1. Check your departure time in your booking confirmation.
  2. Aim to arrive at Al Mouj Marina 15 minutes early.
  3. Eat a light breakfast — a full stomach and a boat ride don't mix well.
  4. Let us know about any medical conditions or non-swimmers in your group.
