Cooler winter days, warm summer water and calm mornings: how the seasons change a trip to the islands, and how to pick your date.
The short answer: you can visit the Daymaniyat Islands all year round, and each season has something to offer. The best time for you depends on whether you'd rather avoid the heat, have the warmest water or see the islands at their quietest.

These are general patterns. Weather on any single day can differ, and the crew always checks conditions before departure.
October to April: the popular season
The cooler months are the most comfortable time to be outdoors in Muscat. Daytime temperatures are pleasant, and camping on the islands is at its best, with cool evenings and clear starry skies.

The water is at its coolest in January and February. Most people are still happy in swimwear, but a rash vest or shorty wetsuit makes longer swims more comfortable if you feel the cold.
May to September: warm water, early starts
Summer in Muscat is hot, but on the water it's a different story: there's a breeze, the sea is at its warmest and mornings are often flat calm. Our trips leave early to make the most of the calmer, cooler part of the day.
If you're visiting in summer:
- Choose a morning departure, or the sunset cruise for the evening.
- Drink plenty of water — we provide water, juice and soft drinks on board.
- Wear a rash vest and reapply reef-safe sunscreen often.
Turtles and nesting seasons
Turtles live around the islands all year, so you can see them in any season. Turtles and seabirds nest on the islands at certain times of year, and Oman's environmental authorities may restrict landing on some beaches during those periods to protect them. Snorkelling trips continue, and the crew always follows the current rules.
Best time of day
For snorkelling, mornings are usually best: the wind is lighter, the surface is calmer and the light is good for seeing the reef. For photos and a relaxed atmosphere, nothing beats late afternoon, which is why our coastal cruise runs at sunset.
Weekdays vs weekends
Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays are the busiest days at the islands. If you can, a weekday trip usually means fewer boats at each snorkelling spot. Book early for weekends and holidays, as shared trips can fill up.
